Sophie

Designer Notes

I like making and wearing slip dresses. They’re easy to put together, can be suitable for various levels of formality (from pyjamas to formalwear), and can be made from many different fabrics.

I decided I wanted to try drafting a slip using the Freesewing developer tools instead of paper, and the Sophie design was the result.

What You Need

To make the Sophie slip, you will need the following:

  • Basic sewing supplies
  • A strap turner, a choptick or something similar to turn the straps inside out
  • A few meters of a suitable fabric (see Fabric Options)
  • (Optional) About 0.5 - 1 metre (0.6 - 1.1 yards) of lining fabric if you choose to line the cups and straps with a different fabric from your main fabric
