When attaching the liner to the outer part of the hats I found it helpful to use plastic clips from a local quilt shop. After clipping it together, I serged the liner to the outside part of the hat.

One deviation I made from the Holmes design is I added a band on the inside like what I've seen in some commercial hats. To make the band I used some extra black fabric I had lying around, wrapped it around a strip of cotton batting, and covered the seam with bias tape.

After finishing the hats, I added labels to the inside to help us tell them apart.

I had to make sure we could tell our hats apart.

I'm quite pleased how they turned out. My first experience with FreeSewing was a success!
