When Joann closed in May 2025, I was able to snag a bolt of two-way Rayon/Spandex in a lovely shade of slate blue. I then kicked around the Arica cosplay ideas for a few months before pulling it together for Legacy Expo in September 2025.
I like this fabric because it has a nice visual texture from slubs. IMO Star Wars is not a shiny spandex franchise, but those fabrics frequently show up in comics because they're easy to color.
WORD TO THE WISE: this fabric stretches easily, but doesn't spring back to its original length. I ended up fighting with pins to attempt to keep it from falling dramatically. (Advice from my aunt: if you're going to wear an outfit where your bra might show, wear a pretty bra.)
